Well, hi! It looks like I spent all of August putting my head down, reading good books, and finishing some projects of my own, and I simply stopped writing emails. And that’s totally okay! In fact, I might do that more often.
Today, though, I had to come back here to share something cool with you (stay tuned to the end for that), but first I’ll give you the quick and dirty update.
What I’m reading:
So many good books! I read Dolly Alderton’s book Everything I Know About Love, and it was absolutely wonderful. Despite the fact that we grew up in different countries and had very different childhoods, the shared experience of growing up alongside the internet made it feel like she was talking about my life, too.
I also read Attached about adult attachment styles, and I found it so interesting. So much of what I believe about relationships comes down to the importance of boundaries, but this book added a different lens through which to look at relationships and life, and I’m sure I will be revisiting it.
I read The Wake-Up Call by Beth O’Leary, and she remains one of the absolute queens of my romance-loving heart. Beth O’Leary books are unmatched, and I haven’t yet read one that I wouldn’t recommend fiercely. I’m also rationing out the ones that I haven’t read yet because I don’t want to run out of new Beth O’Leary books.
I read Michelle Moran’s book Maria, and I have to recommend it for any of fellow lovers of The Sound of Music.
Currently reading When The Body Says No by Gabor Mate and The Anthropocene Reviewed by John Green.
Oh, and since this category used to be called “What I’m reading/watching/listening to,” I also recently started watching an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation every evening. I grew up with this show, but I also grew up with a massive fear of aliens, so it seemed like it was time to reclaim that, I guess.
What I’m writing:
For the first time in a long time, I’m working on a full length novel and one that doesn’t have any cats in it! I originally had intended to publish this book in the fall of 2023, but I was too ambitious last year. Here’s hoping for a different result this year, because I love this story—and the cover I already have for it—and really want to put it out into the world!
Something special:
It’s Stuff Your Kindle/E-Reader day! In case you haven’t participated before, this is only one of the most magical days in a romance reader’s life.
